FAQ

Q: When will my sample be ready?

You can follow the progress on our PPMS sample submission system. Depending on the complexity of the sample and the booking of the facility the analysis can take up to four weeks. Let us know if you just want to QC a single protein as a MALDI measurement might be sufficient in this case

Q: How much does the analysis cost?

For our analysis charges please register and login to the PPMS sample submission.

Q: What is your publication policy?

Any intellectual input into the project (during the planning, execution and analysis of the experiments) justifies an authorship on the manuscript resulting from the data. Please use the following sentence when you publish data from routine protein identifications performed at the ZfP: "Proteomic analysis was performed at the Protein Analysis Unit (ZfP) of the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich, a registered research infrastructure of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, RI-00089)"

Q: How do I interpret the results?

Depending on the databases available and the specific scientific question, we use different algorithms for data base searches. Please contact the facility staff for more details on your specific result format.

Q: Why can't I open the Mascot link?

If your results are older than 6 months, the data have been archived and we need to manually retrieve them form the storage server. Please send a mail to ignasi.forne@lrz.uni-muenchen.de containing the link to the mascot file you'd like to retrieve.

If your results are NOT older than 6 months and you are using the Sophos antivirus version 10 or higher, make sure the "Download Scanning" option is off. To do so, open Sophos go to "Sophos home>Configure antivirus-virus and HIPS>Configure>Web protection" and change from "On" or "As on-access scan" to "Off".
